roth iraRoth-IRA, the individual retirement scheme is the most sought after scheme by people of today. It has it’s own features for making one opt to this retirement plan. For more about the scheme and how it actually works ,visiting roth-ira.org would provide a clearer picture.

Now, one might wonder if conversion of retirement account is possible to an upgraded version of Roth-IRA. Well , it can. And by doing so, one can recieve the benefit of tax-free growth and tax-free distributions in the years to come. In the year 2010 , the adjusted gross income limitation of $1,00,000 was scrapped off from the system meaning which anyone and everyone can upgrade their regular retirement scheme to a Roth-IRA account. SO, There might arise a question of why Roth-IRA is preferred over the traditional version of the same? What’s the take?! Simple of the simplest reasons , Roth-IRA allows one to make tax-free withdrawals, that is , one needn’t pay money while withdrawing a specific sum from the account when he/she completes the age of 59.5. Other advantages of Roth-IRA are as follows.
1) While the traditional IRA requires one to pay taxes when he/she completes 70.5 years of age, by letting one withdraw a stipulated amount from the account required by the minimum distribution , as far as Roth-IRA is concerned, no such thing is needed to be followed i.e , no need of abiding by the minimum requirement rule as done in the traditional IRA one.
2)Roth-IRA helps in protecting savings of a particular individual, as all withdrawals are made tax-free.
3)One of the major advantages of Roth-IRA over traditional IRA is that, The tax advantages of the Roth-IRA follows on , i.e , the heirs of the deceased can enjoy the same amount of benefits as done by the former.

Now, moving on to the flip side :If anyone’s under the age of 59.5, he/she cannot avail the benefits without incurring a penalty of 10% for early withdrawal purposes.
The conversion/upgradation from an existing account to the Roth-IRA account may depend on many circumstances and needs a lot of thought to be put on, before coming to a proper conclusion. One must spend extra time in weighing the Pros and Cons and coming to a proper consensus.. Consulting a tax professionals prior to making any kind of major decisions regarding the conversion is recommende.
