What is a Financial Advisor?
A financial advisor is an individual who has made it their career to be extremely knowledgeable in all manners regarding finances. These financial professionals give advice to governments, companies, and individuals on how to handle their money matters. They help people with making solid investment decisions concerning such things as their insurance policies, their retirement planning, and their investing. They give advice on mortgages, and how to make the most of property investments as well.
Their main job is to help their clients maintain a balance in their money matters by using the process of asset allocation. By doing this they hope to maintain a proper balance between the amounts of investment income their client has, along with their clients capital gains. They want to achieve all this by taking what are considered to be acceptable risks with their client’s investments.
In order for them to do the job they use tools such as stocks and bonds, the investing in mutual funds, they make use of real estate investment trusts, they use stock options, notes, futures, and all means of investing to meet their goals for their customers.
They are paid in two different manners. Some financial advisors are paid on commission for the different products they broker for their customer. So they make money when you make money. Others have a fee based system where they charge a fee for each type of work they perform. Some of these fee based professionals also charge commissions. So when you are hiring you want to make the distinction between fee based professionals, and fee only professionals.
The majority of people and companies that hire the services of these individuals simply do not have the time it takes to manage their investments themselves, and these professionals will watch over their client’s best interest in these matters, where the client can go on with the other aspects of their life.
These are the people who make it their business to know everything happening in the world of finance, and knowing how to use that information to benefit their clientele. They are the magicians of the finance world.
